Mobile and mobile phone services. People have become so dependent on them that it has
completely taken over our lives. Imagine having the ability to stay connected with your
loved ones and friends any part of the world at any given time.
It has also made life so convenient for employees and businessmen who travel frequently.
With the growing number of players in this market we even enjoy better mobile phone
service rates. There are many mobile phone services currently available. They are digital
services that offer users the facility to make voice and data calls and let us not forget the
many benefits that come with it. Services such as call waiting, caller identification; short
messaging, email and video help us a great deal in locating business associates,
employers, employees, family members etc. These truly value added services such as the
caller identification facility, helps us maintain our privacy and security.
Different regions use different mobile services such as land based services use either
Global System for Mobiles (GSM), Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) or Time
Division Multiple Access (TDMA) technologies in one or more spectrum bands or the
new third generation network.
- GSM is a standard for digital cellular communications (in process) used by more than
60 countries and GSM standard is currently used in the 900 MHz and 1800 MHz
bands.
- TDMA is a digital wireless communications transmission method, that allows
umpteen number of subscribers to easy and disturbance free access, to a single radio-
frequency channel. Each user is given a unique time slot within each channel.
- SMS Mobile Originate is recently gone live on several TDMA networks across the
world
- CDMA designates a code to all speech bits then sends a scrambled transmission of
the encoded speech over the air and decodes the speech to its original form when it
reaches it's destination. CDMA supports SMS with a message comprising of up
to120 characters. CDMA, digitizes every conversation and then tags it with a code.
The mobile phone receives a signal to locate that particular code after which it
decodes the conversation from the airwaves.
- GPRS , yet another mobile phone service, supports a wide range of bandwidths,
efficiently uses limited bandwidth for transporting both small bits of data, such as e-
mail and Web browsing, as well as large volumes of data.
The business and leisure travelers can choose those mobile phone services that are
available in the local area they are in but also be able to make international calls without
any problem but this facility would have an additional cost. The fact is , it's worth the
service.
